Devices and accounts
Gregor works on a single device without an account. An account adds channels you can share, subscriptions, a mute policy, and delivery to all of your devices at once.
Without an account
Section titled “Without an account”Each installation has its own identity, a device address that starts with dv1. You can see and copy it in Settings under This device. Without an account you can:
- Receive alerts sent to the This device channel, and manage its send URLs and heartbeats.
- Browse the public directory.
- Set alert levels for this device.
Create an account or sign in
Section titled “Create an account or sign in”Open Settings and choose Sign in, or Create account:
- Enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters.
- Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your email. Resend code sends a new one.
If you forget your password, choose Forgot password? on the sign-in screen; a 6-digit code lets you set a new one. Signed in, Account settings lets you Change password or Sign out.
Bind a device
Section titled “Bind a device”After you sign in on a device, the app asks Bind this device to your account?
- Bind: the device receives your account’s channels and subscriptions, and follows your mute policy.
- Skip: the device stays on its own. You can bind it later from My devices with Bind this device.
Binding never changes the device’s own This device channel: its send URLs keep sending to this device only.
Manage your devices
Section titled “Manage your devices”My devices in Settings lists every device bound to your account:
- Rename in My devices changes the name shown in your account, without changing the device’s own name. Rename the device itself under This device.
- Unbind device removes a device from your account. It stops receiving alerts from your account’s channels and subscriptions but keeps working on its own.
Names are labels; two devices may share one. The address tells them apart.
Reinstalling
Section titled “Reinstalling”A reinstall creates a new device identity with a new address and a new This device channel. Senders using the old device’s send URLs must switch to the new ones. If the device’s secure storage was reset, the app says so and lists what may need setting up again, such as channel keys for encrypted channels.
